The escalating frequency of fire incidents worldwide demands urgent attention. In Nigeria alone, the devastating impact of these fires resulted in over ₦67.1 billion in property losses in 2024. Lagos State, a key economic hub, recorded 5,684 distress calls over three years, translating to ₦56.84 billion in property damage. While proactive measures saved an estimated ₦117.12 billion worth of properties in 2024, the need for enhanced fire prevention and mitigation strategies is undeniable.

Recognizing this critical need, the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, initiated the Lagos International Fire Safety Conference (LIFSC). LIFSC aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders and disseminate vital fire safety knowledge and skills.

LIFSC 1.0: A Foundation for Change

Last year's inaugural LIFSC 1.0 was a resounding success, drawing over 2,000 attendees to a three-day event dedicated to enlightenment and action. Officially opened by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the conference laid the groundwork for a safer, more resilient Lagos.

LIFSC 2.0: Building on Success

Join us for LIFSC 2.0, a comprehensive three-day workshop, conference, and expo designed to elevate fire safety standards and minimize fire risks. Our mission is to:

The Lagos International Fire Safety Conference (LIFSC) is proudly organized by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, operating under the auspices of the Lagos State Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations.

Established on August 31, 1972, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has a rich history of safeguarding the lives and properties of Lagos residents. Under the leadership of its first Chief Fire Officer, Sir Allan Flemming, and a dedicated three-person crew, the service laid the foundation for the robust and responsive organization it is today.

In 2019, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu appointed Mrs. Margaret Adeseye as the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, marking a new chapter of innovation and enhanced service delivery. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service remains committed to excellence in fire safety, emergency response, and community protection.

Through LIFSC, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service aims to leverage its expertise and experience to foster collaboration, disseminate critical knowledge, and drive advancements in fire safety practices across the region.
